The Middle-Earth Mod for Morrowind

The Middle-Earth Mod For Morrowind was conceived in late 2001 by Robin Scott, the founder of the Gaming Source forum and online community, and quickly gained a large number of enthusiastic followers and prospective contributors from around the globe.
I joined the project in the summer 2002, and almost immediately took the responsibility for the art direction for the project, defining the entire conceptual style for the game, from Tolkien's own art and textual descriptions, rather than the films which were just out at the time - an often challenging decision with exhaustive research through the minutiae of dozens of books.

From just leading the visual artists' team, I was later asked to lead the entire project following the previous leader's erratic behaviour, and through 2004, was responsible for forming the team into an efficient production pipeline with effective design documentation, milestones, and time management.

As part of my responsibility for the team, and in light of the previous leader's conduct, I was obliged to investigate much of the documentation for the project; a process that eventually revealed that a non-profit permission to produce content in Tolkien's setting was false. It was my responsibility to close the project in September 2004, despite the vast quantity of content produced, in the best interests of the team.

Despite the disappointing end to the MeMod, the project formed a number of strong friendships and was an exceptional learning experience, for all the members involved.
